Lip enhancement is a common procedure for both men and women of all ages. A precise application of a lip filler can be employed in various ways to get your desired contour. Lip augmentation, also known as lip fillers, lip enhancement, or lip injections, can alter the size and contour of your lips for a short period of time.
Because your body produces less protein as you age, your lips become thinner and less pronounced.
Lip augmentation can improve the fullness and definition of your lips, giving you a more attractive and youthful appearance as well as a more defined smile. It can also aid in the upward turn of the mouth’s corners.
The treatment can be customised to your preferences, leaving you with a natural, moisturised, defined, or larger appearance.
The procedure takes around 30 minutes, with prices starting at £200. You will require only one session, and this will last 6 to 9 months. Due to there being no downtime, you can return to work on the same day as your treatment! You’ll likely see benefits right away. Slight swelling or soreness may persist for up to three days. After ten days, the best results are noticeable.
Dermal Fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring material in your body. Hyaluronic acid can be found in a variety of places. Almost all HA fillers are bacterial in origin, and they currently dominate the aesthetic market. Dermal fillers hydrate and volumise the skin, giving it a natural, softer appearance. These fillers are made up of a soft injectable gel made up of non-animal hyaluronic acid that has been stabilised. They attract water into the epidermis and dermis and increase skin turgor because of their hydrophilic nature. Filler is not permanent, but it does last a while! A single treatment produces immediate results that might last anywhere from 9 to 18 months. You can use dermal fillers to restore your facial volume, smooth away wrinkles, boost the skin, create fuller lips, and shape your cheeks and chin.
The ageing of the face is a multi-faceted process that affects the bones, muscles, fat, and skin. Extrinsic (sun exposure, smoking) and intrinsic (genetic) factors play a role in the ageing process. When paired with gravity, it causes subcutaneous tissue laxity, a decrease in the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid and collagen, adipose tissue (fatty tissue) atrophy and hypertrophy, and bone resorption. Dermal fillers are used to counteract the effects of ageing on the skin. The morphology of facial ageing in certain areas of the face guides the placement of dermal filler.
The superficial and deep fat pads of the face, for example, atrophy and move with relation to one another. As a result, the upper face loses volume, resulting in hollowed cheeks. In order to
address and restore decreased volume in the cheeks, hyaluronic acid filler is employed. This makes the face appear more youthful.
The loss of collagen and elastin causes thinning of the lips as people become older. Lip volume loss caused by age can be successfully corrected with hyaluronic acid fillers, resulting in a more refreshed and young appearance.
The ageing process causes a significant loss of facial bone. The gradual resorption of the jawbone, for example, can result in a hypoplastic chin and an uneven jawline. These alterations can also be addressed by injecting hyaluronic acid filler into the chin and jawline to give the face a more young and defined appearance.
If you wish to improve the contour or shape of the nose, hyaluronic acid can be used.
HA fillers can also be utilised to restore volume in other areas of the body, such as the hands.
Basic dermal filler procedures usually do not require anaesthesia because the dermal filler already contains a local anaesthetic. It’s straightforward, requiring only a few small injections directly into the skin, taking 15-30 minutes. The results are instantly visible. Regular, repeated treatments can help you retain optimal results for a long time. The method varies depending on the individual, degree of volume loss and the specific dermal filler than is being used.
The treatment effects are visible right away, but they improve over the next 2-4 weeks. Although optimal outcomes can be maintained over a lengthy period of time by regular repeated treatments, results can last anywhere from 9 to 18 months. The lifetime of dermal fillers varies from person to person, based on the requirements and severity of the volume loss being treated and the specific dermal filler used.
When administered by a professional with appropriate training in this field, dermal fillers are very safe. SkinSense exclusively uses products that have been proven to be safe. Because hyaluronic acid (HA) is a chemical found naturally in skin cells, there is a low chance of adverse responses. Prior to administration, no skin testing is necessary. These fillers are safe even for persons with food allergies. The dermal fillers we use are available in over 90 countries and have been used as an injectable cosmetic treatment for more than two decades with a proven track record of safety. An antidote called hyaluronidase can dissolve hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.
Since the initial generation of collagen injections, dermal fillers have come a long way. Advanced injection procedures, in combination with the use of a micro-cannula (blunt needle) and increased product safety, mean that adverse effects are exceedingly rare. However they can include:
Reactions to injections: These reactions can include redness at the injection site right after the procedure.
Bruising: Bruising may occur. The use of a micro-cannula (blunt needle) minimises the risk of bruising significantly.
Contour irregularities can and do happen from time to time. Although massaging will usually smooth out any ‘lumpiness,’ the filler can be easily removed if the problem persists.
Infection – this technique, like all injections, poses the danger of infection. The syringe is sterile, and the usual precautions for injectable materials are followed.
Tissue necrosis is one of the most serious side effects of dermal fillers. Fortunately, this is a very unusual occurrence. It occurs when a dermal filler is unintentionally injected into a blood vessel, obstructing the flow of blood.
Blindness is an extremely uncommon complication. Injecting dermal filler into a blood vessel that has a connection with the artery that feeds blood and oxygen to the eye has caused roughly 100 cases around the world. There hasn’t been a successful treatment for this yet.
Following your treatment, we will go through any aftercare instructions with you to ensure that you get the most out of your treatment and avoid any adverse side effects.
Dermal filler has a short downtime and recovery period so that you can get back to your daily routine right away. After the treatment, you can continue normal activities.
- For three days, avoid using skin care products containing retinol, vitamin C, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, and Beta Hydroxy Acids.
- Take a 12-hour break from wearing makeup.
- For the next 24 hours, avoid rubbing or scrubbing your face.
- For 24 hours, avoid direct sunshine, sunbathing, and sunbeds.
- Do not swim for 24 hours.
- Don’t do any vigorous exercise for the next 24 hours.
- Don’t drink too much alcohol for the next 24 hours.
- After treatment, stay upright for 4-6 hours. It will prevent the filler from migrating from the
treatment region to an unexpected area of the face.
- To prevent placing pressure on the treated region, sleep on your back. Because the hyaluronic acid filler is a gel, it can be crushed and moulded under pressure, compromising the effects.
